Can soapstone stain?
Soapstone is the only natural stone that is 100% non-porous, meaning that it will not stain.
Is soapstone heat resistant?
Yes! Soapstone has been used in fireplaces and pizza ovens because of its high heat retention.
Can soapstone be used in exterior spaces?
Soapstone functions very well in exterior living spaces due to its natural properties, making it one of the best choices for your exterior space!
Does soapstone need to be sealed?
No, we apply a coat of linseed oil and beeswax or mineral oil to the soapstone to give it its rich colour and consistency.
How often do I need to apply oil/wax to my soapstone countertop?
We recommend applying oil/wax to your countertop 2-3 times in the first month or two to create a patina. After this, the amount of times you need to apply oil/wax is solely based on the stone and your preference.
Can soapstone scratch?
While soapstone can sometimes scratch, it can be easily removed by simply applying oil or wax or buffing the small area with light sandpaper and re-waxing the area.
Is soapstone a natural stone?
Yes, soapstone is quarried across the world and shipped in large slabs!
How many soapstone colour options are there?
There are many colour variations of soapstone, but they are mostly in the dark family. Unfortunately, there is no such thing as “white” soapstone.
What is the lead time from template to installation?
Our lead time is 7-10 business days from template to installation!
